- We do not charge anything if we are unable to recover your data.
- You and your data are treated with respect and with full confidentiality.
- Our engineers are amongst the industry’s best. They will take care of your data.
- We often recover data that other companies have failed to. If your data is important, you want to be sure you have the best chance of a successful recovery.
- Contacting us is easy, and is the first step towards getting your data back.
We recover Netgear ReadyNAS drives from any kind of hardware or software failure. If you are running a RAID or similar, our engineers have industry-leading RAID recovery and repair skills. They will restore your data and have you back in business. Quickly. And with no fuss.
Failed hard drive, disk crash, broken RAID – these can all be recovered, as can a failed firmware update that means you cannot access the device or a share.
Our engineers understand storage, and know about all operating systems and file systems, and recover crashed ReadyNAS drives and restore Apple Mac and Windows data from all failures. They consistently recover RAID data from systems where other companies have failed.
They are standing by to help with any data loss situation you may have, including:
Hard drive failed – flashing orange LED
Disk status LED blinking or flashing
Corrupted RAID parameters
RAID rebuild failed – including XRAID2
Corrupted volume or system
Deleted data files
When we receive your ReadyNAS, we first make secure copies of each individual drive in the device. This means that if something goes wrong during the recovery, such as another drive failing, we will have backup copies. It’s an insurance policy that costs nothing, but can be precious.
Why Retrodata? • Can you recover my data? • Emergency Recovery • Why RAID fails
- Netgear RAID hard disk has failed (warning LED orange or amber) causing a RAID crash.
- Firmware upgrade failed, and you cannot access the drive or device.
- A RAID rebuild has failed, and the system will not boot.
- Corrupted RAID parameters (Even though Netgear says this destroys the data, this is not so; we can recover from this.)
- RAID expansion failed
- Someone accidentally deleted the data.
- The ReadyNAS will not boot
Successfully recovering Netgear ReadyNAS data from all the following scenarios.
Infrant ReadyNAS 1000S
Four 3.5″ drives
RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5
Potential Failure:
Expansion fails when using default block size
ReadyNAS 1100
Four 3.5″ drives
RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5
Expansion failure when using default block size
ReadyNAS 2100
Four 3.5″ drives
RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, X-RAID, X-RAID 2 (expandable RAID)
RAID Expansion
Firmware upgrade fails and cannot access drive, or RAID parameters corrupted. (This is almost always recoverable, despite Netgear stating it will wipe out the data.)
Disk status LED blinking slowly, or an orange LED indicates failed hard drive
RAID rebuild or resynchronizing the volume failure
ReadyNAS 3100
Four 3.5″ drives
RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, X-RAID, X-RAID2 RAID Expansion
Firmware update failed and results in loss of access or RAID parameters. (This is almost always recoverable, despite Netgear stating it will wipe out the data.)
Disk status LED flashing slowly, or an amber LED indicates failed hard drive
RAID rebuild or resynchronizing the volume failure
ReadyNAS 3200
Twelve 3.5″ drives
RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, X-RAID, X-RAID2 (expandable RAID)

Twelve 3.5″ drives
RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, X-RAID, X-RAID2 (expandable RAID)
RAID Expansion
Potential failure:
Firmware upgrade fails and results in loss of access or RAID parameters. (This is almost always recoverable, despite Netgear stating it will wipe out the data.)

Known issues with Netgear ReadyNAS Devices
As with almost all NAS devices, ensure you have your data securely backed up to another storage medium before updating the firmware.
Failed Netgear ReadyNAS causes
- Hard drive failed (orange LED)
- Overheating, causing hard drive failure
- RAID rebuild failed
- Degraded volume
- RAID expansion failed
- Volume resynchronizing failed
- Firmware update failed resulting in total loss of access to the device
- File system corrupt
- User error
